The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces that it will temporarily close a two kilometre long section between Al Qalaa Interchange and Al Wajba Interchange on Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street, as shown on the attached map. The diversion will start on Thursday 25 August 2016 and will last for two weeks, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.

During this period, road users travelling from Bani Hajer towards Doha will be diverted from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street onto Al Wajba Street, as shown on the attached map, and can turn left onto Al Qalaa Street and then exit right at the roundabout to rejoin Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street. Road users travelling from Doha towards Bani Hajer will be diverted from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street onto Al Qalaa Street, as shown on the attached map, and can turn right onto Al Wajba Street to rejoin Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and continue their journey. The diversion is required to facilitate the laying of permanent asphalt on the first phase of Ashghal’s Al Rayyan Road Upgrade project.

To minimise disruption to families, school children and teaching staff, Ashghal aims to complete the necessary works and make this section of the street available for public use before the re-opening of schools. The Public Works Authority anticipates that it will complete the entire Al Rayyan Road Upgrade project, converting the 2.9km stretch of Al Rayyan Road into a dual carriageway, four lanes in each direction with three interchanges, by the end of Q1 2017. Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion. The authority requests all road users to abide by the existing 80 kph speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
