Aspire Zone, Qatar’s leading sports and recreational hub organized Aspire Junior Jam on May 9 from 3 to 7 PM at the Aspire Dome. The basketball street tournament targeted basketball juniors in Qatar to involve teenagers in sports activities and encourage the country’s youth to practice sports with a good competitive spirit.

The tournament hosted 8 teams divided in two age categories, from age 11 to 14 and 15 to 19. Over 80 participants went head to head in a 3x3 basketball game in a half court to claim the first place. At the end of the tournament, team Zambalenyo won the first place trophy in front of a cheering audience. Second place went to team Monster, Ooredoo was awarded third place and Who’s Next in the fourth place, each with their respective medals in addition to gift vouchers and cool giveaways.

Commenting on this occasion Team captain, Don Leoncio Mayo Tabol said: "It was with great pleasure and privilege that we participated in the 3X3 Aspire Jam junior. We feel quite lucky to have organized our team, Zambalenyo Ako, on such short notice and under the leadership of basketball guru coach Robert Taylor.”

For his part, Mr.Raslan Rashid Al Abdulla captain of Who’s Next and winners of last year edition said: “we enjoyed our time last year and despite the high competition we managed to win the tournament, we were expecting to win the third place this year, we will be preparing more for next edition.”

This unique and fun event came as part of Aspire Zone’s efforts to continue promoting healthy living and an active lifestyle throughout Qatar.
