The General Administration of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has commenced a campaign to deliver food baskets to 1,035 needy families for three months. The families are registered under the ministry’s Families and Childhood Care Fund campaign.

The three-month campaign team includes Talal Mansour, fastest runner in Asia and Board member at Qatar Athletic Federation; Abdul Rahman al Khulaifi, member of Central Municipal Council; Maryam al Hammadi, director of Qatar Authors Forum; Dr Muhammad al Anzi, educationist; and a group of media personalities.

Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad al Thani, director-general of the Department of Endowment at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, said: “This initiative by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs as part of its efforts to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) will be providing 3,015 food baskets with a variety of contents to 1,035 families.” He said the endowment division is successfully meeting the objectives of the Fund towards the existing registered families. The doors of the Fund are open to needy families to contact it through telephone line 66011160, he added.

Youssef al Khulaifi, Public Relations Officer at the Fund, thanked the donors for their valuable support and generosity to enable the endowment division and the ministry in helping the needy members of the society, especially during the present situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
