The Turkish Oscar-nominated movie “Ayla: The Daughter of War” premiered on Qatar’s silver screen recently in an event hosted by Turkish Airlines Qatar. The event was attended by H.E. Fikret Ozer, Turkey’s Ambassador to Qatar and H.E. Park Heung Kyeongb, Korea’s Ambassador to Qatar.

Among the attendees of the movie premiere, were Ambasadors of Tunisia, Syria, Kazakhstan, North Cyprus to Qatar. The event also attracted several other diplomats and dignitaries, media, and cinema, and art activists.

Ayla The Daughter of War 2 [].jpgMr. Mehmed Zingal, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Qatar office, who attended the event said, “Turkish Airlines is known to be an art and culture enthusiast worldwide and sponsoring Ayla’s premiere night was a perfect opportunity to bring people together to experience such an incredible movie and appreciate the great meaning and values behind it.”

In the midst of the Korean War, a heartfelt and touching father-daughter love story grows. The story begins when a 5-year old Korean girl loses her home and family in the war and a Turkish sergeant, among thousands who were sent to help an ally country, meets her in the battlefield and decides to take her in. This heartwarming story is portrayed in an impressive movie, “Ayla: The Daughter of War”.  Sponsored by Turkish Airlines, the movie has received international attention and good reviews, and was recently announced as Turkey's candidate for nomination for the Oscars.

Based on a true story during the Korean War, the movie portrays the story of the Turkish soldier Süleyman Dilbirliği and the 5-year old back then Korean girl Kim Eun-ja. Directed by Can Ulkay, the movie stars famous actors such as Çetin Tekindor and İsmail Hacıoğlu in addition to Hollywood legend Cade Carredine.
