Bahrain Cinema Company has announced the opening of a new 13-screen Cineplex at the Gulf Mall in Gharafa, Qatar at a total cost of QR60 million ($16.4 million). The new Cineplex, which has a total of 2,318 seats, also features Cineco 13 with one of the biggest screens in the region, with a 22.5 metre wide screen.

There are also two VIP cinemas split across two floors with a balcony and lounge on the mezzanine floor. Ahmed Rashed, CEO of Bahrain Cinema Company (Cineco) said: "It gives us great pleasure to have opened yet another Cineplex in the state of Qatar, bringing our total number of Cineco screens there to 47. "Having expanded our geographical location, this has made us a lot more accessible to movie goers and we look forward to enhancing the movie viewing experience for all."

In Bahrain, Cineco said it operates a total of 49 cinemas with further expansions planned in the near future. In March, Bahrain Cinema Company posted a 16.5 percent fall in net profit for 2015. The company said that its net profit totalled BD6.3 million for the financial year, down from BD7.5 million in the previous year. However, net profit for the fourth quarter of 2015 rose by more than 76 percent compared to the year earlier figure, the company said.
