Barclays was recently crowned ‘Best Private Bank in Qatar’ at the inaugural Wealth Briefing GCC Region Awards 2014. One of five firms shortlisted in the category, the triumph is yet another milestone in Barclays’ drive to be recognised as a leading player in the MENA private banking space.

Cedric Lizin, Head of Middle East and North Africa and Head of Business, Japan at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, said: “We are truly proud to receive this award as it confirms our strong and leading position as a private bank, in the Middle East region. The recognition further underlines the expertise and track record of our teams and validates the success of our unique integrated business model, which provides clients with complete access to the full suite of Barclays’ regional and global capabilities in corporate and investment banking.

He added: “Barclays Wealth and Investment Management’s success in the Ultra-High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs) and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) segment results, among other things, from our specialised open architecture platforms offering the full range of investments, credit and wealth advisory products, our ability to combine our regional know-how and on-ground presence with Barclays’ global expertise, a focus on recruiting and developing the best talent, and finally, a drive for technology innovation.”

Showcasing ‘best of breed’ providers in the global private banking, wealth management and trusted advisor communities, the awards were designed to recognise companies, teams and individuals which the prestigious panel of judges deemed to have ‘demonstrated innovation and excellence during 2014’.

ClearView Financial Media’s CEO, and Publisher of WealthBriefing, Stephen Harris, was first to extend his congratulations to all the winners. He said: “The firms who triumphed in these awards are all worthy winners, and I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations. These awards focused on the client experience, not quantitative performance metrics which is a unique, and I believe, compelling feature. These awards recognise the very best operators in the private client industry, with ‘independence’, ‘integrity’ and ‘genuine insight’ the watchwords of the judging process - such that the awards truly reflect excellence in wealth management.”
