The American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar (AmCham Qatar) hosted Jeffrey Johnson, CEO, Boeing Middle East, at its latest Distinguished Speaker Series event on Wednesday November 19, 2014. His Excellency Sheikh Abdulrahman Hassan Al-Thani, Chairman of the Bethel Group, attended the talk. Boeing’s executive presented the latest trends in the aviation industry and the role of the Qatari market in its exponential growth.

AmCham Qatar Chairman, Robert A. Hager said: “AmCham Qatar is closely following developments in the ever-vibrant sector of aviation in Qatar and the region. Major players like Qatar Airways, the new groundbreaking Hamad International Airport and expansion of private aviation are essential partners for the continued growth of American aviation exports to Qatar. We are here to support that growth and promote American-Qatari economic cooperation.”

Jeffrey Johnson, CEO, Boeing Middle East, said: “The American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar is a great platform for bridging industry cooperation between Qatar and the US. Qatar and the Middle East are strategic markets for us and according to our projections, there will be a need for 2,900 new commercial aircrafts in the region over the next 20 years. We work very closely with Qatar Airways, universities and other community institutions to expand our presence and support Qatari efforts to realize the National Vision 2030.”

According to Boeing’s Middle East President, there are massive opportunities for developing Qatar’s and region’s human potential. During the next 20 years, Boeing forecasts that 62,000 new airplane technicians will need to be trained – a tremendous opportunity for skill and knowledge development. AmCham Qatar also announced that USA week will take place in February, during which American business partners will present to their Qatari counterparts on the best ways of doing business in the US. The full week of events and meetings will bring together different Qatari and US stakeholders and will culminate with a traditional American culinary delight – an authentic “Chilli Cook Off.”
