Commercialbank, the largest private sector bank in Qatar, held an award ceremony to recognize students’ who successfully completed the Banking Associates programme at the College of North Atlantic – Qatar.  The course which included -Customer Service Agent, Teller Foundation & Simulation programs was conducted over a three month period and has been specifically designed to provide Qatari Nationals   with career opportunities at the Bank.

Certificates were presented at a ceremony attended by Mr. Khalid Al-Haji - Head of Talent Management, Commercialbank; Mr. Ken Macleod, President, CAN- Q, Ms. Faye McKay, Dean, School of Business Studies, CNAQ , the Career Development and Qatarization team from Commercialbank. Hamad Salem Al-Shekili, Qatarization Manager, Commercialbank delivered the key note speech.

Khalid Al-Haji, Commercialbank’s Head of Talent Management, said: “At Commercialbank we consider the development of our employees’ skills essential, especially our national youth, and a vital part of our commitment to the local community and business. Commercialbank’s investment in Qatar is reflected in its investment in people and the Bank is committed to the development of local talent of which Qatarization forms an integral part of its long-term strategy.”

Mr. Al-Haji further added, “Commercialbank’s Banking Associates program is developed in close co-operation with the College of North Atlantic – Qatar and is aimed at equipping our new Qatari employees’ with banking knowledge and skills. The program provides a strong foundation in Retail Banking products and services giving trainees’ over 100 hours of hands-on practice in a simulated bank branch. Commercialbank not only provides the selected national students with strong financial support while they are completing their studies but also guarantees them access to opportunities at the Bank.

Speaking to the graduates of the program Jaywant Michael, Executive Director, Centre for Banking & Financial Studies at CNA-Q encouraged them to be not just “the best in the world, but to be the best for the world and to start by being the best for Qatar!” He further added ‘We thank Commercialbank for introducing a programme that provides graduates an opportunity to fast-track their career path and look forward to strengthening our partnership in the years’ to come.”
