The Ambassador of China to Qatar, HE Gao Youzhen, extended his congratulations to the Qatari leadership and people on the occasion of the glorious Qatar National Day, asserting it is celebrated in commemoration of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, the founder of the State, who has devoted his efforts and thought to create the modern Qatar.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on this occasion, the Chinese diplomat said the National Day of the State of Qatar is a symbol of development and progress realized by Qatar in the political, economic, trade, cultural, social and welfare fields, noting that celebrating the event is a gesture to recognize the achievements of the Founder and the generations that worked incessantly to create a modern state that uniquely combines tradition and modernity.

He went on saying that ‘Qatar has evolved through years into an important power in the region and the world, and its development is tied to the past. We in China commend the efforts being exerted by the current and past leaders towards the development of their homeland, he said. The friendly states share the same concept for development, he said, noting that while Qatar’s National Vision 2030 focuses on human, economic, social and environmental development, China, on its part is embarking on the political, economic, cultural, social and environmental development.

The Chinese Ambassador commended the bilateral relations between his country and Qatar based on mutual respect, protection of the national sovereignty and the principle of Non-Interference in a State's Internal Affairs. He described the visit by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani to Beijing last month as "an historical political event and of high importance to both countries", stressing that the visit was a driving force to the growth of bilateral relations between the two sides.

He added that the leaders of the two countries discussed means of enhancing relations of cooperation in various fields, particularly in the light of the cooperation agreement signed by both sides on the political and strategic areas. He commended the recent development in China-Qatar relations, especially this year which witnessed a series of exchanged visits by high level officials. ‘Such visits are important for mutual understanding and exchange of views. They have yielded positive results that helped in cementing confidence and boosting cooperation between our two countries", he said. 

Concluding, the Chinese Ambassador expressed confidence that the mutual cooperation between the two countries would further expand to cover the areas of transport and communications, energy youth and sports, confirming that the State of Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup 2022 which will bring together Arab tradition and modernity.
