As part of its strategy to create awareness on fire safety among the residents of Qatar, the General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) in collaboration with various institutions in the state conducted a mock drill at Qatar National Bank (QNB) building in Corniche on Wednesday.
The mock drill started with the GDCD's Operation Room receiving information about a fire incident that occurs in the air conditioning room at the third floor of the building. Thick smoke billowing from the third floor of the building was visible.
Subsequently, firefighting and rescue teams accompanied by fire engines and a rapid intervention vehicle rushed to the site to rescue persons trapped in the building. Meanwhile, the security personnel at the Bank evacuated the building and guided the staff and customers to a safe assembly point.
After reaching the site, the team of Civil Defence personnel launched a search operation for the missing and injured victims of the fire incident. It was followed by the team demonstrating rescue operation of a man with fake injuries. Then the mock drill team carried the injured man to the ambulance. The Rescue Police (Al-Fazaa) also participated in the operation as the patrol squad controlling the traffic in the surrounding roads.
