College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) is opening its doors on Monday, March 25th for the public to experience the applied education that makes CNA-Q Qatar’s premier national technical college.

During this 10th Annual CNA-Q Skills Day, there will be an open house and Skill Stations for participants and community members to browse through and partake in. College students will be participating in over 30 Skills Competitions which will test their capabilities in Business Studies, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Academic Studies and the Skilled Trades. During the “Test Drive Our Campus” open day, the public is invited to come along to see the stimulating competitions, and try their hand at an array of activities themselves.

“We are inviting future students, parents, industry representatives, and community members to attend an open house to showcase our state-of-the -art campus where students are immersed in experiential learning,” said Ms. Samah Gamar, Vice President, Academic. “As the leading provider of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Qatar, applied learning is at the root of what we do. By hosting our annual Skills Competition on-campus, we are reinforcing the importance of technical education and skilled trades for Qatar’s economic growth, and for meeting the diverse skills and interests of learners. We believe that engaging students in advanced, occupationally-aligned skills is key to fulfilling the Qatar National Vision’s human capital pillar and the economic and social development of the nation. CNA-Q is proud to be enacting the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s commitment to TVET through this annual celebration of applied skills.”

Over 200 CNA-Q students are registered to participate in competitions with their peers. These competitions are designed to allow students to demonstrate the skills they have learned in their studies through practical scenarios they will encounter in the workforce. As in past years, high school students will join the competitions as a way to expose youth to the diverse vocational and technical learning options at the College. Additionally, post-secondary students from other institutions in Qatar are joining the Health Sciences competitions in practice scenarios where healthcare professionals have to work cooperatively together in an allied healthcare setting.

The CNA-Q Annual Skills Competition is modeled from WorldSkills, which is a global competition with a mandate to raise the profile and recognition of skilled trades and professions.

The general public, media, students, parents, industry and ministry representatives are invited to tour the CNA-Q campus on Monday, March 25th, from 9 am - 11 am.  Please come to the lobby in Building 1 to register for a guided tour. For more information please contact Heba Al Raessi,
