College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q), in collaboration with Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) Q.P.J.S.C. held a final ceremony for the winners of the first ever Business Gateway Competition on Monday. Business Gateway is a pre-incubation business hub, established on the CNA-Q campus aimed at encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship.

For the past several months, students have been working on projects ranging from innovative recycling projects to an idea for a fuel-preserving vehicle. A total of five teams were awarded with 20,000 QAR each for their winning entries. Winners will also receive space at Business Gateway to enable them to continue to grow their ideas. Winners included Hibatallah Muwaffaq Y. Ghosheh, Noor Rashid Al-Mulla, Ibrahim Khalid I. Al-Sulaiti, Abdul Rahman Al Jandali, Ahamed Yaseen Salim, Mahnoor Shahid, Syed Maaz Ali, Khazami Abdalhamid AlBrahim, Aya Badureldin Elhadi Abdalla, and Moustafa Montaser Noufal.

“This is exactly what I had in mind when Business Gateway was conceived,” said Dr. Khalifa Bin Naser Al-Khalifa, President of CNA-Q. “It offers Qatari entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas a space, and mentorship to enhance their capabilities and support their projects.” Business Gateway is a pre-incubation program designed to support entrepreneurship, and to accelerate research innovations and promising ideas to the marketplace, as well as help all entrepreneurial students, faculty staff and alumni tap into the "innovation ecosystem."

“At Qatar Development Bank we support initiatives that seek to embrace the ideas and innovations of entrepreneurs. The goal of partnering with CNA-Q in the Business Gateway was the creation of profit-generating business projects that are based on research and innovative ideas,” said Mr. Abdullah Falih Al Saeed, Director of the QDB Learning and Development Department. “We are pleased with the success of this project and are proud of the students who won the first competition for the Business Gateway. We wish them much success in their future endeavors.”

Business Gateway is the first educational program of its kind in Qatar.
