Ahead of the first UEFA Champions League quarter final games kicking off this evening, Nissan – the official global automotive sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, is offering football fans a once in a lifetime experience at this season’s final, where you could be walking out onto the pitch at the San Siro on May 28th.

ME WAVING THE FLAG

25 lucky football fanatics will win the opportunity to fly to Milan and experience the excitement of being an official Centre Circle Carrier on the pitch, during half time of the most watched annual sporting event in the world. In front of 80,000 chanting football fans, you could be one of the lucky ones who walk onto the famous turf, and wave the iconic black and white UEFA flag to the spine tingling sound of the Champions League anthem. Recent research by Nissan* found that almost three quarters (73%) of people say the UEFA Champions League is the top sporting event they look forward to each year and over a quarter (28%) claim to keep the date free in their diaries. Now Nissan is offering you a very unique opportunity to be part of the match everyone will be talking about.

To launch the campaign Nissan ambassador Andres Iniesta took to the streets of Barcelona and surprised unsuspecting fans by asking them for a selfie. In order to enter and be in with a chance of being a part of the action in Milan you have until 13th April to upload your own photo selfie into the comment box on Facebook. When asked about his day surprising fans with his selfie request Iniesta said: “At first it was an odd sensation. I'm not used to do it because normally it’s other people who are asking for a selfie with me. Good selfies are the ones which capture the most special moments and hopefully come the end of the season I will be taking a selfie of me lifting the trophy with my teammates”.

Iniesta also commented on his own feelings about whether his team, FC Barcelona, will also be heading to Milan this May to pick up a potential sixth UEFA Champions League trophy; “It will be tough for us to get past Atletico (in the quarter final), they are a very competitive team and we will have to give it our best to reach the semi-final. I think this season though we are doing things right. As a team we understand each other very well and you can tell that on the pitch. That (reaching the final in Milan) would be the dream for everyone but there is much left to do before Milan’s final, right now we have a great objective ahead of us in the form of Atletico”.

MY NAME ON THE FLAG

For those who aren’t lucky enough to win a place on the San Siro pitch, Nissan is also offering fans who miss out the chance to still feel part of the action in Milan. Champions League supporters can submit their name to be weaved onto the iconic flag which will then take centre stage on the pitch during half time. By micro-printing everyone’s names onto the flag, to create the shape of the stars, every fan who participates will get a small, but honored place on the flag used as part of the biggest football game of the year.
