Top decision makers and industry experts will be attending the Fourth General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity and Exhibition (CAUE) to be held here from January 7 top 9 at Sheraton Doha Hotel.

The conference, jointly by the Arab Union of Electricity, the Arab League, represented by the Arab Electricity Ministerial Council and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), gains added importance as the CAUE is celebrating its silver jubilee this year.

The features of the three-day conference are a seminar on 'Investment Opportunities in Industries Related to the Electricity Sector in the Arab Countries' and the 'Seventh Exhibition of Electrical Equipment and Installations in the Arab World'.

The main topics for discussion for participants at the conference are: restructuring the electricity sector in the Arab countries; encouraging investment in the electricity sector through Independent Power Producers (IPP); smart grids, distribution network maintenance, demand side management, and energy conservation; loss reduction in electricity generation, transmission and distribution; renewable energy sources and how to connect them to the grid; nuclear power generation, quality and services management in electricity distribution.

In a preamble to the power sector event, CAUE President Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari said, "I am also pleased to announce that the above events will take place in conjunction with a meeting of the Executive office of the Assembly of Arab Electricity Ministers, the celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the Arab Union of Electricity, and a meeting of its board of directors and general authority."

The conference is importance for the region since the power sector moving towards investments in generating electric power from renewable sources and innovating to combine them with smart electrical grids through synergies with power companies to generate clean, safe and renewable energy that will make electricity infrastructure more stable, effective and reliable.
