Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, Doha hosts the Seminar and Training Course on “Environmental Pollutant Emissions in the Electricity Sector in Arab Countries” organized by “Kahramaa” in cooperation with the Secretariat of Arab Electricity Ministerial Council, the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers in Charge of Environmental Affairs, ESCWA, and UNEP at Rotana Oryx Hotel – Doha during the period form 27 – 31 May 2012.

The two day seminar held on 27 – 28 will be followed by a three day training course on The Main Principals of Calculating Environmental Pollutant Emissions in the Electricity Sector in Arab Countries during the period form 29-31 May.

The seminar and the training course are expected to attract many of the electricity and environment experts, specialists, and researchers from Arab electricity and environment ministries, and electricity organizations, as well as related Arab and regional organizations, private sector, universities and research centers to present work papers at the seminar and attend the training course.

The seminar and the course provide an opportunity and proper environment for dialogue and discussion among all involved sectors. This includes electricity and environment policy and decision-makers, developers, operators and experts at the local, regional and international levels, as well as academics.

The seminar shall discuss the environmental impacts of electricity generation and ways to face. It shall also review the Arab efforts in this context especially within the relentless efforts to provide sustainable and effective management to meet the increasing demand for electricity and the development needs by the provision of more safe and stable power supplies along with keeping the Arab environment green.
