Sheikh Eid Bin Mohammad Al Thani Charitable Association (Eid Charity) is implementing major water projects in 26 countries in Asia and Africa by digging thousands of wells and providing the people with water coolers in cooperation with local partners.
Beneficiary countries of the project include Sudan, Somalia, Niger, India, Yemen, Indonesia, Albania, Pakistan, Benin, Burundi, Thailand, Chad, Tanzania, Togo, the Comoros, Djibouti, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Palestine, Cambodia, Kenya, Mali, Malawi, Mauritania and Nigeria. The projects aim to alleviate shortage of drinking water and water for livestock and agriculture while contributing to the human development in these countries. The cost of each water well varies from QR2,500 to QR750,000 depending on its size, depth and nature of the recipient country.
Eid Charity said in a press release that the project is being implemented with the generous support of the Qatari donors.
