His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry, presided over the Energy and Industry Sector’s 18th Annual Qatarization Review meeting, which was held on Monday, April 30th.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, President & CEO of Qatar Petroleum, along with senior executives and representatives from the 35 participating companies in the sector’s Strategic Qatarization Plan, and senior executives from Qatar’s education community. In his address, His Excellency Dr. Al-Sada highlighted the importance of the efforts to enhance competitiveness in the world market, and said the country as well as all energy and industry companies have shown strong resilience, adaptability, and determination to mitigate the impact of the blockage on our businesses. He added: “this has not weakened our businesses, but has rather enhanced its innovative capabilities.”

His Excellency emphasized the importance of concentrating on developing the strength in the technical field including vocational education, as it is the backbone of the industry. He encouraged all participants to be more innovative in their efforts to attract, develop, and retain Qataris especially those with technical education and training. At the end of the meeting, the Sector’s 10th Annual Qatarization Awards were presented by His Excellency, Dr. Al-Sada accompanied by Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, President & CEO of Qatar Petroleum, to honor those companies who exhibited Qatarization excellence during 2017.

Recipients of the prestigious Qatarization Crystal Awards were Qatar Petrochemical Company Ltd. for “Support and Liaison with the Education Sector”; Occidental Petroleum Qatar Ltd. for “Supporting Qatarization”; Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd. for “Support for Training and Development”; and, Qatar Chemical Company for “Best Qatarization Progress”. Annual Qatarization Certificates were also presented to Qatar Steel Company for “Support and Liaison with the Education Sector”; Qatar Shell GTL Ltd. for “Supporting Qatarization”; and Qatar Fertilizer Company for “Support for Training and Development”.​
