EY recently organized an outbound investment strategies seminar at the Hilton Hotel in Doha, Qatar. The seminar titled ‘Navigating change in the financial landscape’ was attended by senior executives from investment banks, private equity and industrial groups, family businesses and legal firms in Qatar. The seminar featured panel discussions and presentations by financial and tax professionals from EY, legal advisors and executives from GCC investment groups who shared their insights on the current investment climate in three key markets; North America, Europe and Emerging Markets.
Marcel Kerkvliet, Partner, International and Transaction Tax Services, EY Qatar, said: “Mature and rapid-growth markets are going through profound changes with varying implications for businesses. These shifts represent opportunities but organizations will need strategic advice to navigate these changes and harness their potential. Our objective was to leverage our global expertise and help organizations in Qatar looking to invest overseas to understand the opportunities in mature markets like North America and emerging economies like Africa and India.”
In addition to discussing the key opportunities and key challenges that investors face, the panelists highlighted some of the major commercial and tax issues which need to be considered before investment decisions are made.
