The world's brightest young science and engineering students are pictured in a flag parade to mark the opening of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2015. The WRO is an international celebration of science and technology, taking place for the first time in Qatar this weekend under the patronage of H. E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Being held at the Al Shaqab Indoor Arena, the three-day event will see more than 3,000 participants from over 45 countries compete in four different categories of robotics challenges. The WRO is hosted by the College of the North Atlantic - Qatar, sponsored by Maersk Oil Qatar, and endorsed by the Supreme Education Council and Qatar Petroleum. This year's WRO is one of the largest in the competition’s 12-year history. The event supports the partners' ambitious commitment to build Qatar's science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) skills and capacity for generations to come.
