Fujifilm Middle East FZE, the regional office of Japan-headquartered Fujifilm Corporation, is looking to further expand its coverage and tap into the fast-growing regional healthcare sector by opening on-the-ground technical service office in Qatar.

Globally recognised for its state-of-the-art and pioneering diagnostic imaging and information technologies that are widely used in preventive healthcare and treatment, Fujifilm was selected in January 2015  as the medical equipment and information solutions provider for the Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Program in Qatar led by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) of Qatar with the support of RadNet (which performs clinical and operational services)  from the U.S.A., and Specialized Medical Solutions (SMS) (which provides on-the-ground administrative support) from Doha.

The Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Program of PHCC will be connected to Hamad Medical Corporation, whose breast imaging department will be digitized by Fujifilm IT Solutions ‘Synapse’. This solution, which provides digital breast assessment and diagnostic report services, creates a single uniform breast imaging and information system solution for the whole of Qatar. In addition, Fujifilm’s ‘Synapse CWM RIS /PACS’ solutions will be installed at all PHCC Health clinics throughout the country.

Fujifilm's Digital Mammography “Amulet” System, which realizes high-resolution image processing and enhanced mammography diagnosis, has obtained a Pre-Market Approval (PMA) from the United States of America’s (U.S.A.) Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In addition, this system has been approved by the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom (U.K.) as a high quality system that meets the standards of the European Reference Organization for Quality Assured Breast Screening and Diagnostic Service (EUREF).

“Fujifilm’s overall aim is to provide top-tier service that will lead to the improvement in the quality of life for the people of Qatar,” said Jun Higuchi (pictured), Managing Director of Fujifilm Middle East FZE.  “Our revolutionary techniques and wealth of experience has enabled us to provide high-precision and high-resolution mammography equipment and systems. We are extremely proud that, through our technology, we are able to assist in the early detection and treatment of breast cancer and be a key player in healthcare programs that save lives.

“It is therefore our intention to provide the much-needed on-the-ground technical support and further extend the reach of our products and services to this region’s healthcare sector,” he added. “Accordingly, a technical service office is expected to open in Qatar very soon.”

Throughout its activities, Fujifilm also seeks to contribute to the advancement of culture, science, technology and industry, as well as to improved health and environmental quality. Fujifilm´s overarching aim is to help enhance the quality of life of people worldwide.
