HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry on Thursday inaugurated the permanent headquarters of The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha. The inauguration ceremony was attended by GECF Secretary General Leonid Bokhanovsky, a number of energy ministers and oil from the forum's member countries in addition to a number of senior officials of Qatar Petroleum (QP).

HE the Deputy Premier then attended the opening session of the 11th GECF ministerial meeting, chaired by Algeria's Minister of Energy and Mines, Youssef Yousfi.
During the one-day meeting, the participants are to discuss a number of topics related to reports made by the Chairman of the GECF Executive Board in terms of the duration of the mandate for the period from 2009 to 2010 and the duration of the mandate of the General Secretariat for the period from February to December 2010 in addition to a report on the Secretariat's agenda and the Forum 2011 budget.

The ministers will also discuss the appointment of the new Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Ministerial Meeting and other topics related to the work of the Executive Board.
They will as well review the first GECF Summit in 2011and the report submitted by the Forum Secretary General related to the progress in the strategic plan five-year along with another report on the development of gas market at the short-term and the date and venue of the 12th ministerial meeting besides other issues.
