HEC Paris in Qatar – ranked number 3 worldwide in Executive Education by The Financial Times – conducted its first-ever Alumni Success Stories gathering to highlight the achievements of some its alumni in their respective fields.

With over 60,000 alumni worldwide, HEC Paris is recognized by The Economist as the world’s best alumni network. The inaugural event took place at the HEC Paris Doha campus, in Tornado Tower, and was marked by the presence of HEC Paris’ alumni members who are based in Qatar including Ramzan Al Naimi, Founder of Innovation Cafe; Nishad Azeem, CEO of Coastal Qatar; Layla Al Dorani, Founder ofFruity Friends; and Rajesh Jagadish, Technology Strategist and Innovation Leader at Ooredoo.

The four alumni spoke about their achievements and the challenges they had to overcome to reach their goals. While Layla, Nishadand Ramzan talked about using their HEC Paris capstone projects as a stepping stone for launching successful operational businesses in Qatar, Rajesh gave an account on how the HEC Paris experience helped him to further accelerate his career, as they all benefited from the expertise of high-level faculty, a strong alumni network and had access to diverse case studies.

Layla Al Dorani’s graduation project at HEC Paris in Qatar proved to be her inspiration for developing Fruity Friends – a ready-to-eat food products outlet for children. She also feels that she benefited from the HEC Paris International Executive MBA program that was recently ranked number 1 worldwide by the Financial Times in 2019, and used that experience to face various challenges in order to fulfill her ambitions.

Meanwhile Nishad Azeem, CEO of Coastal Qatar, which is an integrated engineering specialist in construction, steel fabrication, trading in architectural products, galvanizing and manufacturing, presentedhis HEC Paris capstone project, the galvanizing plant, whichhe launched successfully. In addition, he also gave an overview of his company’srecent focus on manufacturing products locally like spectator seats for FIFA 2022 stadiums, street light columns, road crash barriers etc.

And Ramzan presentedhis venture Innovation Café, a unique one-of-its-kind initiative which brings together a management consultancy firm, a creative space with a design thinking studio, and a coffee shop, all on one platform. The main purpose of starting and establishing this project in Qatar is to create a culture mindset for innovation and business growth for startups and within the organizations. The final guest of the evening, Rajesh Jagadish, TV and Multimedia Expert at Ooredoo Qatar, spoke about how his time at HEC Paris in Qatar helped him in maximizing his value within his organization, and how the HEC Paris brand has helped him in tapping wider opportunities.

The inaugural Alumni Success Stories served as a platform for alumni to share their experience with their fellow alumni as well as provided an opportunity for networking for the 700+ alumni in Qatar. The event provided the attendees with a lot of valuable insights into how one could use the HEC journey to their advantage.
