The Early Intervention Program at Rumailah Hospital’s Child Development Center, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), has organized a training workshop for the families of its patients on the proper use of car safety seats for children with special needs.

The training workshop, which was held in collaboration with the Hamad International Training Center (HITC), took place in late February and included approximately 30 family members of the Center’s young patients. Mr. Shameem Ahmed, Program Coordinator at Rumailah Hospital’s Child Development Center, stated that the workshop demonstrates HMC’s commitment to providing the safest, most effective and most compassionate care to each and every one of its patients through spreading awareness amongst parents on practices that will lead to the safety and well-being of children.

The workshop, conducted by seven expert technicians from HITC, included teaching participants how to select the right car seat based on their child’s age, weight, and height. The aim was to help parents keep their children safe while traveling in vehicles. Mr. Ahmed stressed the importance of the use of car safety seats, noting that road traffic vehicle accidents are the major cause of death amongst children aged one to 13 years. “Placing children in proper safety car seats in the back seat of vehicles minimizes the risk of injury to the head, neck, and spine,” he added. Participating parents expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the training. They also thanked HMC for the compassionate care and support extended to their children.
