IQ, the new design exhibition for Qatar, is gearing up for a successful first edition. Taking place from 2-4 February 2015 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), IQ is expected to attract 6,000 visitors across the three days of the show. With less than three months to go until the exhibition opens its doors, over 80 per cent of the exhibition space has already been booked.
“We have been getting an incredible response from local, regional and international brands since we started selling exhibition space early in 2014,” said Ashley Roberts, Event Director, IQ exhibition. “Being the first edition of a new show we have received a very positive response and demand for space. This proves that this market really wants and needs a show like IQ and that Doha is the perfect location for a show of this caliber.” Following the example of its well established UAE-based sister exhibitions- The Hotel Show, The Big 5, INDEX and workspace at INDEX – which have grown in size year after year, IQ is set to become the new flagship event in Qatar for residential, commercial and hospitality interiors, as well as public sector solutions, fit-out materials and fittings.
The Residential section of IQ offers visitors products and designs for all kinds of interiors including: lighting, outdoor furniture, floor and wall coverings, solutions for kitchens and bathrooms, furniture, and other items designed to fit in the most desirable residential spaces. Katharine Pooley, Interface, Corian DuPont, Chabros, Elite Homes, Slate Lite, Gautier, Dream Glass, Etqaan Designs, Aldar Al Jameela, Poly Products, Octogone, KTS, Vingcard, Elsaf, RAFCO, Basic Elements, and Fine Art Furniture are some of the leading brands that have already booked space in the residential section.
“We very much look forward to participating in the IQ Exhibition. Since opening the Katharine Pooley boutique in 2013 with Nasser H. Al Ansari, Qatari businessman and Chairman of the franchisee Octagon International Qatar, we have witnessed how the demand for quality interior design and bespoke home furnishings has flourished,” said Katharine Pooley, founder of the London headquartered award-winning luxury interior design, architectural design, property development, home accessories and bespoke furniture design company.
“The team is very excited to be part of the growth of Qatar at such an exciting time for the country, when we can see and feel so much energy being put into its development. Our expertise and intimate market understanding and analysis bring projects from concept to final profitable management efficiently, swiftly and cost-effectively. Visitors at the exhibition will be introduced to our latest designs, which will include a collection of rare and exquisite objects from distant corners in the world. The Katharine Pooley booth will portray understated luxury, and the highest level of craftsmanship and quality,”said Pooley.
Industry professionals looking to source products and solutions for Public Sector, Commercial and Hospitality projects will find sections dedicated to that; workstation and storage solutions, furniture for offices, boardrooms and conference room interiors, signage and graphics solutions, equipment and accessories for leisure, fitness, spas and banqueting are some of the products that IQ visitors can expect to find across the 10,000m2 of space covered by the exhibition.
Commenting on their participation at the exhibition, Mr. Nadim Akhras, Interim CEO of Depa, said: “As a company, Depa has always been driven by quality, design and the right partners to shape the interiors of high-end hospitality, commercial, residential and social infrastructure projects in the Middle East and beyond. Undoubtedly, there is a strong demand in the Qatari market to challenge boundaries and realize the 2030 vision of an advanced society, providing a high standard of living for its people. At Depa, we want to contribute to this vision, leveraging our regional and local ID expertise to support Qatar’s aspiration for excellence.”
Open to trade and general public, IQ is designed around the needs of interior designers, architects and design industry professionals from both Qatar and the surrounding Gulf states. The three day exhibition will be open every day from 4 to 10pm with free access for professionals. Alongside the exhibition a number of engaging features and events will take place across the three days of the show providing visitors with additional industry related content. IQ Education, sponsored by Interface, a series of free to attend conferences discussing the latest industry’s trends and topics, and the first Qatar Design Awards, with headline sponsor ASTAD Project Management, which will recognise and reward outstanding interior design and architecture projects, located within Qatar, are just two among them.
