Josoor Institute will be hosting a ‘sport networking event’ at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Doha, on 18 November 2014. The event will be held from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and is aimed at discussing contemporary legal practice and issues in sport, and is exclusive for lawyers and legal practitioners in Qatar. It will see a range of key global speakers and experts share their insights on legal issues in sports, presenting case studies, best practice and any relevant regional insights to those working within the business of sport.
The evening will include a panel interview featuring Ben Bye, Senior Commercial Lawyer, International Cricket Council (ICC) who will be interviewed on recent practice and issues for the ICC such as its recently completed broadcast rights negotiations. Bye will be joined by Richard McClaren from McClaren Global Sport Solution, Ahmad Anani from Latham Watkins and Andreas Zagklis from Martens Rechtsanwälte Law Firm, who will discuss the relevance of sports issues for legal practice including drugs, corruption, and governance, among other issues.
This networking event is being held as part of Josoor Institute’s forthcoming short-course, titled, ‘Law and its Implications on Sports and Event Practitioners’, which will help in understanding both the unique needs and the legal environment of these industries on an international scale. It will also provide a basic understanding of the local and international legal principles that affect day-to-day roles. The course will take place at the Qatar National Convention Centre on 18-19 November.
Lawyers and legal practitioners in Qatar are invited to register for the evening ‘sport networking event’. To register or for more information on the event, interested lawyers are invited to contact Josoor Institute.
