A delegation of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “Kahramaa” visited the Central Municipal Council. The delegation of Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department was headed by Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Ali, Department Manager accompanied by Mr. Fahad Soud Al-Henzab, Head of Legal Monitoring and Ms. Somaya Al-Mutawa, Head Education & Society Awareness.

The visit came within Kahramaa initiative of community awareness of electricity and water conservation. The visit was meant to review the aspects of cooperation between Kahramaa and the Municipal Council within the national initiative of conservation and efficient use of water and electricity “Tarsheed”.

Eng. Al-Ali hailed the immediate response of municipal Council Chairman H.E. Mr. Saoud bin Abdullah Al-Hanzab, and Vice Chairman Mr. Jassim Abdullah Jassim Al-Malki and all members who expressed their intention to cooperate with Kahramaa in its conservation initiative.

Al-Ali displayed a presentation of Kahramaa conservation initiative saying, ”the visit comes as per the directions of Kahramaa President H.E Eng Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari who valued cooperation and coordination with the Council. To strengthen “Tarsheed” campaign. Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department Manager reviewed the role of Kahramaa and the Municipal Council in Tarsheed saying, “Kahramaa has to disseminate the value of conservation by producing publications, posters and information stressing the role of conserving electricity, water, and natural resources to be used in training and developing all Council staff”. “Kahramaa provide the Council with all information and technical support to turn all council institutions into sustainable buildings” he pointed out.

“We have proposed some activities where the Municipal Council can cooperate with us including the awareness of conservation law, violations, and solutions, at the Municipalities and the significance of turning all affiliated institutions and department into green.” Al-Ali highlighted “the Council can cooperate with us in educating the role of law enforcement officers at council website, and magazine.” he concluded.

It is worth to mention that “Tarsheed” initiative has launched in April 2012 under the patronage of H.H. Heir Apparent. It is meant to reduce water consumption by 35% & electricity consumption by 20% during the coming five years.
