To promote the positive values of Tarsheed, the National Program for the Conservation & Energy Efficiency, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation’s Conservation & Energy Efficiency department in coordination with Children’s Literature Center recently participated at ‘Summer Full of Culture’ held at Ezdan Mall, a program to educate community.
The total four day event in two phases witnessed the presence of a large number of visitors including children and their parents. Children participated at various activities including story- telling, coloring workshop and handicraft activities and also enjoyed the presence of Kahramaa’s characters Qtorah and Kahroob at the venue. At the occasion and through the interactive informative session, visitors were informed about the highest consumption of water in Qatar, rising carbon emissions, global warming, alternative energy sources and other environmental issues among others. Besides, children were explained about the negativity of depleting water resources and they were encouraged to use water and energy rationally.
Tarsheed, the National Program for the Conservation & Energy Efficiency, was launched under the patronage of His Highness the Heir Apparent, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. The five-year campaign aims to increase environmental awareness and educate the public about the importance of consuming resources wisely. Tarsheed presents a significant opportunity for organisations and individuals to join the national efforts to protect the country’s resources and reduce water and electricity consumption. Kahramaa is appealing to all Qatar’s residents to take an active role in the campaign so as to ensure Tarsheed’s success and the realisation of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
