Ali Abubaker Kamal of Qatar won men's 3000m steeplechase final with a season  best timing of 8:30.23sec at the 19th Asian Athletics Championships  on Friday.

The event is held in Kobe, Japan from July 7-10, 2011 at the Kobe Universiade Memorial

Kossinov Artem of Kazakhstan won silver medal in 8:35.11sec while Taher of Bahrain took bronze literally by walking at the finish line in 8:45.47.

On other hand, Yousef Ahmed Masrahi became the first gold medal winner in the men's 400m from Saudi Arabia in the history of Asian Championship with a timing of 45.79sec. His late surge was too much to handle for Hirose Hideyuki of Japan who ended on the second place with 46.03sec. Yuzo Kanemaru also from Japan took bronze medal in 46.38sec.

Additionally, Mohammad Alazemi won first gold medal for Kuwait in the 1500m run with a timing of 3:42.89sec. He also maintained domination of Gulf countries over 1500m run in the Asian Championship. Sajad Moradi of Iran won silver medal.
