Lekhwiya SC strengthened their grip yesterday on the league with a 3-1 win against Muaither, in the 14th round of Qatar Stars League. Nam Tae Hee opened the scoring for Lekhwiya after 29 minutes. Al Moez Ali and Ismael Mohammed added the two other goals in the 44th and 58th minute. Alan Dioko scored Muaither's consolation in the 88th minute.

The match was unsurprisingly a one-sided affair given it was a top Vs. bottom clash. The win keeps Lekhwiya top of the table with 36 points. Muaither on the other hand suffered their 11th loss of the season and remains bottom of the table with nine points. On the other hand, Al Sadd SC returned yesterday to winning ways and beat Al Kharatiyat SC 1-0. Al Sadd was playing without a number of their star players. Namely Hassan Al Haidous and Ibrahim Khalfan, who are sidelined with injuries, and their goal scorer Baghdad Bounedjah, who will represent Algeria at the African Cup of Nations.

The win took Al Sadd's point tally to 34. They are two less than Lekhwiya. Meanwhile Al Kharaitiyat remain with 12 points in 11th place.
