The British Boels-Dolmans rider won the 93km third stage from Souq Waqif to Al Khor Corniche in a sprint finish from Shelley Olds (Bigla) and Lucinda Brand (RaboLiv), said news360. Armitstead holds an eight-second lead over team-mate Ellen van Dijk ahead of today's final stage, the 85km route from Sealine Beach Resort to Doha Corniche.

Mark Cavendish was beaten into second place by Team Sky's Elia Viviani but retained the overall lead after stage two of the Dubai Tour. Two stages remain, and Cavendish said: "I'm disappointed with second but I take a lot of positives from my sprint. "The team managed to get to the front and take control, which is really positive, but I was just a little bit on the limit before I started my sprint. I was just lacking a bit of zip. "It's OK. I've been beaten by Viviani before and I'll be beaten by him again, so I'm not disappointed."
