Over two days, the participants will discuss selected chapters, from the draft report of the environment statistics 2013, which include multiple statistics and indicators on freshwater, air quality and greenhouse gas emissions.

The workshop aims at benefiting from the remarks of theparticipants concerned in the new environment statistics report before drafting the final form. Besides, the workshop seeks to identify the users’ needs in respect of the next environment statistics report.

By virtue of this workshop, The MDPS will track the progress achieved by the agencies participating in the improvement of waste statistics and information. The ministry will also review Qatar’s environment statistics framework.

Several environment statistics workshops were held in the previous years. The necessity for the organization of an annual workshop on environment statistics was one of the main recommendations of last year’s workshop, in which the entire stakeholders and concerned agencies were engaged to enhance cooperation to improve the data collection process, and to use various expertise to ensure the quality of environment statistics.
