Twenty-six officers and engineers from the Communications Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI)  participated in a course on fourth generation wireless communication technology conducted by the Texas A&M University in Qatar recently.

The two-day specialised course, held at the university premises, to boost awareness of the participants on this topic, the MoI Public Relations department said in a media statement Thursday. The MoI Communications Department Director Brigadier Engineer Ali Salem Al Hanzab, Texas A&M University at Qatar Dean Dr Mark Weichold, Director of Students and Community Relations Office at the University Prof Maryam Al Mannai and number of professors from the University attended the closing session.

Weichold said, "We are happy to conduct these types of courses and workshops with high-standard professional quality. The doors of the university are open for all institutions and authorities in Qatar to build a sustainable partnership to serve the Qatari community."

Prof. Maryam Al Mannai said that the course was part of the goals of Qatar Foundation to spread education through community partnership. This is first course held after the signing of the MoU between the MoI and Texas A&M University at Qatar in May 2010. It was the result of the initiative between the Electrical and Computer Engineering Division of the University and Communication Department of the MoI, she said.
