Al Wakrah Municipality’s health control section conducted 374 inspection tours at various food establishments in January. These tours resulted in the administrative closure of a restaurant for keeping food unfit for human consumption, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said in a statement.

Besides, 12 violations of Law no 8 for 1990 on the regulation of human food control were recorded, while 11 affidavits were signed by shop owners to address their violations. Also, nine complaints received by the section were dealt with accordingly. 

The total amount of fines collected during this period amounted to QR90,000, the MME said. The section also destroyed 495kg of foodstuff found unfit for human consumption. Meanwhile, Al Sheehaniya Municipality’s gardens section completed a number of works at public gardens and parks there and also carried out the maintenance of green areas in January. The section planted 63 local trees at Al Sheehaniya Park and also trimmed the trees in some places in co-operation with Doha and Al Rayyan municipalities. In addition, the headquarters of Al Sheehaniya Municipality was supplied with 18 decoration basins containing plants.
