The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) participated in the Sanea exhibition competition 2019 organised by the Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The ministry took part in the exhibition to raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property protection and promote innovation and creativity among students, innovators and inventors, to equip youth with the practical and professional skills to protect their inventions. The participation in the event also comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Qatar Scientific Club, in a bid to instil a culture of intellectual property rights in the local community and to enable innovators and inventors to protect their inventions.

During the event, the ministry organised an awareness campaign to introduce secondary school students to a beginner’s guide that outlines the most important facts about intellectual property and the essential role it plays in everyday life. The campaign shed light on intellectual property protection and students were familiarised with the importance of registering intellectual property rights, copyrights or trademarks to protect creative ideas against infringements.
