Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QAFAC) – the leading producer of methanol and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) in Qatar – and organiser of the first-ever Middle East Methanol Forum (MEMF) scheduled for 26 November 2014 at the Sharq Village & Spa in Doha, has announced that Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) will be the main sponsor of the event.
This collaboration between QAFAC and Muntajat is a result of the close working relationship between the two companies. With QAFAC optimizing the use of Qatar's vast hydrocarbon resources by producing methanol and MTBE, Muntajat exclusively handles the marketing, sales and distribution of what QAFAC produces within its mandate to the market. In addition, Muntajat also sells and distributes other chemicals, polymers and fertilisers produced by the State of Qatar.
“To have Muntajat on board as the main sponsor of this initiative is indeed an important addition to the Forum,” said Mr. Nasser Jeham Al-Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer of QAFAC. “With Muntajat’s key role in the marketing, sales and distribution of Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical products, including methanol, its pro-active participation in the Forum will surely prove beneficial to the desired results of the event.” “QAFAC looks forward to working closely with Muntajat in this Forum, as we already do in our day-to-day operations,” he added.
For his part, Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla (pictured), Chief Executive Officer of Muntajat said: “The Methanol Forum that QAFAC is organizing under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry of the State of Qatar is the first of its kind in the whole Middle East. We are supporting this important initiative to further strengthen our solid relations with QAFAC.” “We at Muntajat are committed to support Qatari initiatives specifically those that involve the products we promote such as methanol which, through its other applications, has become a vital component in the manufacturing process of thousands of products that touch our daily life,” he added.
Established in 2012, Muntajat markets and distributes Qatar’s 10 million tonnes of chemicals, polymers and fertilisers to more than 120 countries around the world. Currently, Muntajat is enhancing its global reach through the establishment of its global marketing company headquartered in The Hague, the Netherlands. This global marketing headquarters will then open 17 marketing offices in strategic cities around the world by the end of this year to be closer to customers. In addition, Muntajat is developing its supply chain programme to effectively reduce lead times and increase the efficiency of its distribution and shipping operations to provide better before and after sales experience.
To be held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry of the State of Qatar, the Forum aims to create a platform for continued discussion on methanol. With its growing importance in a highly globalised economic framework, such continuous sharing of information, knowledge and expertise will further contribute to the efficient and safe production, trade and use of methanol in an increasing number of applications, as well as to the robust growth of the methanol industry.
