“The downstream sector is increasing in importance as part of the diversification of the oil and gas industry in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Muntajat is committed to represent, serve and promote the State of Qatar’s chemical, polymer, and fertiliser industries. I accept this award today on behalf of the Muntajat team and many others who have contributed to achieving our strategic milestones to date. ” concluded Mr. Al-Abdulla.

Janis Kreilis, Country Director for The Oil & Gas Year Qatar said "Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) P.J.S.C is the most important development in Qatar's downstream industry for the 2012/2013 period. The formation of Muntajat has strengthened Qatar’s position in the global petrochemicals industry, and the company will more effectively add value to the country’s hydrocarbons resources. Downstream Company of the Year has been awarded in recognition of the efforts to increase Qatar’s global presence in the downstream industry."

In the course of the past seven months, Muntajat has well advanced in its strategic consolidation programme with nearly 90% of Qatar’s chemical, polymer and fertiliser export portfolio already transitioned. Since the first transition on February 1st, 2013, Muntajat has processed a growing number of orders with more than 3 million tonnes of chemicals and petrochemicals shipped already to more than 40 countries around the world.

Muntajat has now entered a new phase of operations; the company is currently implementing the supply chain programme and putting in place the infrastructure of offices and warehouses worldwide to facilitate its growth.

Already this year, Muntajat has taken over all the marketing and distribution functions of Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QAFAC), Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO), SEEF Limited, and Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC), Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), and Qatofin Company Limited. Muntajat is on track to transition the marketing and distribution activities of the remaining three producing entities (QChem, QChem II and RLOC) before the end of 2013.

Muntajat was established by Minister of Business and Trade Decision 54/2012 in August, 2012. By the Decree Law 11/2012, Muntajat is empowered to be exclusively responsible for Qatar's chemical and petrochemical exports, by consolidating marketing and distribution efforts into a single entity to meet the needs of customers worldwide.
