Nakilat has been certified under ISO 9001:2008 and under the OHSAS 18001:2007 standards by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), it was announced yesterday. LRQA is one of the world’s leading accreditation authorities and recognised for their high standards of technical competence.


“These certifications attest to Nakilat’s high international standards of service, organisational effectiveness and commitment to a safe and healthy workplace and environment,” chairman Hamad Rashid al-Mohannadi said. LRQA’s MEA area manager Basem Obaid awarded the certificates to al-Mohannadi during Nakilat’s sixth annual general meeting. “Nakilat’s achievement is in line with the clear vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani of applying the highest standards of safety, health, environment and quality,” al-Mohannadi explained.


Nakilat managing director Mohamed Ghannam said: “This new milestone represents another tangible example of our commitment to excellence in all business areas. “This accomplishment highlights the dedication of the entire Nakilat team working in co-operation to effectively implement and maintain the integrated management system necessary to achieve the company’s vision and mission.”


The official stated  Nakilat’s goal is to be the world’s leading owner and operator of vessels for the transportation of LNG and associated products. “We also aim to be the provider-of-choice for ship repair and construction services, as measured by customer satisfaction, financial profitability, growth, operational efficiency and high standards of safety, health, environment and quality,” he added.
