The National Campaign on Right to Education began at the national level within the framework of cooperation and coordination between the concerned authorities in the State of Qatar and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and the ongoing efforts of the State to support and disseminate education at a wider level to millions of children around the world.

Dr Hamda Al Sulaiti, Secretary General, Qatari National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, said that Qatar is one of the first countries to launch a national campaign for the right to education at this level, stressing that education contributes positively to the rapprochement and communication among cultures and civilisations and enhances  common human values, human rights and the principles of truth, justice, peace and tolerance.

This came in a speech given by Dr Al Sulaiti at the beginning of the launching ceremony of the international campaign for the right to education at the national level, which was held today at the Intercontinental Doha Hotel, in the presence of  the Secretary-General of NHRC Mariam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, Director of the Unesco Regional Office in Doha, Dr Anna Paolini, and the Executive Director of the Education Above All Foundation Fahd Hamad Al Sulaiti. For her part, Dr Anna Paolini praised the support of the State of Qatar for achieving the Education 2030 agenda. She expressed hope that the two sides would work  to encourage the community to participate actively in this campaign to ensure that all of its members have the right to a good education.

Aisha Al Tawar Al Kuwari, Chairperson of the Right to Education Campaign Committee said that the campaign would  continue until next April.
