The National Human Rights Committee of Qatar has signed a memorandum of cooperation with  the Commission on Human Rights of the Republic of the Philippines.

The memorandum was signed by Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, Chairman of National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and Jose Luis Martin Gascon, Chairperson of Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines, said a release. Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri pointed out that the idea of ​​signing this agreement came from recognition of the distinguished role played by the Filipino community in Qatar and its participation in the development process, and the desire of the NHRC to extend the cooperation with Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines. “The signing of this agreement is the culmination of previous efforts for the opening of the office of the Filipino community at the headquarters of the Committee,” said Al Marri.

Al Marri expressed his pride in signing this agreement to support Filipino workers and employees and their family members, while stressing his confidence that the working conditions in Qatar will always be better.
