The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) of Qatar has received status 'A' from the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC) among national human rights organizations from across the world. 

This is the second time the NHRC receives 'A' status as a national human rights institution from an international organization. Since its inception, the NHRC has steadily moved towards transparency and independency, NHRC Chairman, Dr Ali bin Smaikh al Marri, said in a press statement. Marri said that the status could be achieved only because of the desire and commitment of Qatar's leadership to protect rights of all sections of people and efforts towards promotion of anything that preserves human dignity in all walks of life. He also hailed the cooperation between the NHRC and relevant institutions in this regard.
