Under the Patronage of the Ras Laffan Industrial City Community Outreach Program (RLIC-COP), a number of events and activities were organized for the Northern communities in the State of Qatar during Qatar National Day and in the week leading up to it.

The events and activities were organized in collaboration with various Ministries and institutions including the Semaisma Youth Center and the Al Khor and Al Shamal Municipality's. The Semaisma Youth Center, with the support of RLIC-COP, organized a number of activities on Sunday, December 14th for the whole community to enjoy including a poetry evening, Arial show, camel and horses show, and one of the highlights of the day was a traditional Qatari folklore show. 

Mr. Sultan Al Kuwai, Chairman of Semaisma Youth Center, said: “This celebration is the least that we can do to show our deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Tamim Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and to His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Emir of the State of Qatar, on the limitless efforts for the elevation of the Qatari citizen to ensure a decent life for all Qataris. This Qatar National Day brings overwhelming happiness mixed with our extraordinary pride of such memory “

Further, Mr. Hassan Al Kuwari, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Board Member, said: “We are currently living in a Renaissance era in all different aspects due to the immense efforts of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and his vision. His Highness Sheikh Tamim realized that all of the potential of the State of Qatar along with the country’s resources should be dedicated to the welfare of its citizens.” In addition, Mr. Hassan Al Kuwari extended his gratitude to RLIC-COP and all of its employees for supporting the Qatar National Day celebrations.

In the Al Khor area, RLIC-COP supported the Al Khor Sports Club and the Al Khor Independent School for Girls in cooperation with Ali Bin Misnad Elementary School, where a number of activities and events were organized for the local community. These included traditional dances performed by students from both schools, a horse show, a classic car show along with games and competitions for the families and their children celebrated with prize draws throughout.

Meanwhile, in the Al Shamal Area, RLIC-COP supported Fay Al Dhaha in the north of the country, a number of activities were organized for women of all ages, with a particular focus on the elderly women. Key activities included a traditional Qatar dance for ladies “Al Mrada”, authentic and traditional food along with a big tent where a number of other activities took place. RLIC-COP also created a unique brand and logo for this establishment to ensure that they stood out and could be clearly identified in the North.

Moza Al Mohannadi, speaking on behalf of RLIC-COP, commented: “The RLIC-COP program, which is part of the Qatar National Day celebrations comes from our dedication to the Northern communities, and reflects the program’s core values. The program aims to build a long term partnership with the community which will enable us to support and promote key environmental, economic and social values, along with those of the Qatar National Vision 2030.”

Moza Al Mohannadi continued: “All of these efforts which were done through community outreach initiatives will enable us to move forward with connecting with the Northern communities, and allow us to work side by side with other entities and institutions from different sectors to develop partnerships based on trust and transparency. The program will accomplish social responsibility based on the over-arching philosophy of serving the community through unique initiatives that will develop and nourish different groups in the community.”

All of the events and activities aimed to showcase Qatari heritage, and in particular that of the Northern Communities. RLIC-COP continues to support such initiatives, with the events organized for Qatar National Day being their latest offering.
