Ooredoo and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) today announced that Ooredoo will be the Exclusive Telecommunication Sponsor for the international friendly match between Qatar and Algeria which is set to take place this Thursday 26 March. An agreement was signed by Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO, Ooredoo Qatar, and Saoud Al Mohannadi, Vice President, QFA, to confirm Ooredoo’s support for the event.

The match, which is organised by QFA, will be held in Lekhwiya Stadium at 7pm, and is being played by the Qatar National Team to prepare for the Asian qualification matches ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and AFC Asian Cup 2019™. Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO, Ooredoo, said: “Hosting an event like this is important for the country, as it inspires so many people to come and watch the game and join in the spirit of football.  By bringing international standard matches to Qatar now, we hope to raise the excitement for the 2022 World Cup Qatar to fever pitch! We wish the Qatar team the very best of luck.”

Following the Algeria friendly, the team will prepare for another friendly match against Slovenia which will take place on Monday 30 March in Lekhwiya Stadium at 7pm. The sponsorship is the latest in a long line of agreements between Ooredoo and QFA, as the organisations work together to promote football in Qatar in preparation for the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022. Ooredoo is offering financial support for the event, and will be encouraging its customers to watch and attend the game via its bigger, faster network and through newspaper adverts.

Tickets for the match will be available at the ticket booths of Lekhwiya Stadium on the match day from 4pm onwards. Normal tickets will be available for just QR 10 and will be sold at Gate 5, while the VIP tickets will be priced at QR 50 and will be sold at Gates 1 and 3. This is the latest in a series of Ooredoo promotions and activities built around sporting tournaments in 2015, including the Emir Cup, the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2015, and the 24th Men's World Handball Championship.
