Leading interior design and fit-out exhibition, INDEX Qatar, opens on Tuesday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, with visitors attending the exhibition and Design Talks conference.

Supported by the National Tourism Council (formerly the Qatar Tourism Authority), and against a backdrop of sustained growth for the fit-out market across the country, INDEX Qatar is gathering hundreds of international product manufacturers, interior design firms, and other visitors at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre until Thursday 15 November. Building on the huge success of Design Talks at last year’s launch show, INDEX Qatar features the opening of the three-day conference, which brings together keynote speakers and panels comprising leading interior and architectural experts from around the world. These include participants from entities as diverse as Hillson Moran, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Mirabello Interiors.

Mark Cameron, Director of Capital Project Services at PwC will deliver a keynote on “Market Analysis & Forecast: Reviewing the Scope and Progress of Major Construction Projects in Qatar.” He will be followed by Dr Cherif Amor, Chair and Professor, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, who is addressing audiences on “Architectural and Interior Design: Trends Shaping the Future of Design”. “INDEX presents a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with experts from across the design and architectural worlds.  As an academic, being able to confer with leading industry practitioners and policymakers is invaluable for driving the knowledge exchange that ensures we can provide thought leadership to the wider development community,” Dr. Amor commented.

Wednesday, the second day of the Design Talks conference, will feature discussions on sustainability across major design and construction projects, followed by a case study presented by Msheireb Properties, and a market analysis and forecast of new development opportunities. Qatar is a booming market for global suppliers, with international companies being particularly well-represented at the exhibition. Last year’s debut exhibition showcased the products and services of over 86 exhibitors from 17 countries, and the current edition is hosting even more major players from across the industry.

Designers Brendan Young and Vanessa Battaglia, who launched the UK design brand Mineheart in 2010, are returning this year to Doha. “Coming to Qatar for INDEX really excites us, and it is already exceeding our expectations,” commented Battaglia. She continued, “We are constantly working on new ideas, and we only produce things we really like: it is wonderful to be able to introduce them to the market here, too. Our work brings us joy and we hope our products transmit that into the homes they are used in – in Qatar, and all over the world.”

Throughout the three-day exhibition, close to 5,000 people from the Qatari and international design community are expected to attend - from interior designers and architects to project managers, importers and distributors - across retail, hospitality, residential and commercial design sectors, as well as the general public.

The show continues until Thursday 15 November – registration is free, and the exhibition is open to all. Online registration is now closed but you can register on-site at Hall 5 of DECC, for more information visit
