Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) Q.S.C. and the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will improve and enhance the learning environment for the students of CNA-Q and employees of QAPCO.

To mark the occasion a signing ceremony was recently held at QAPCO’s Head Office on the ‘D’ Ring Road, Doha and attended by Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mulla, QAPCO’s Vice Chairman & CEO, Dr. Ken MacLeod, President of CNA-Q and selected senior management representatives from both organizations.

As part of the MoU, QAPCO will provide leadership training for 20 Student Council members and Leader’s League members and will also sponsor a one day Self Leadership workshop once a year for up to 100 female students. Also included in the agreement, QAPCO will schedule student visits to its modern Petrochemical plant in Mesaieed, provide internship opportunities and will also visit the College to present an awareness forum on the benefits of working in the Oil & Gas Industry and particular within QAPCO.

In return CNA-Q will provide full-time academic programs for QAPCO sponsored Qatar National employees, to include academic, theoretical, technical and practical components in the chosen qualification subject.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mulla, QAPCO’s VC&CEO mentioned “We are very happy to sign this MoU today as it formally recognizes the great partnership that already exists between QAPCO & CNA-Q. For many years we have worked tirelessly together to enhance the learning environment for the students of this esteemed college. We have actively participated and sponsored their Career Fair and attended academic review meetings to develop their curriculum in line with International quality standards. This MoU, will I believe, take this partnership to a new level and provides more and exciting opportunities for the students of CNA-Q and for QAPCO employees who wish to study there.”

Dr. Al Mulla continued, “This MoU is also an important part of our Qatarization strategy as it will hopefully provide for QAPCO a pipeline of new recruits that are ready and willing to join the Industry and to contribute to the future success of QAPCO.”

Dr. Ken MacLeod thanked Dr. Al Mulla for his support stating, “As a College, we take pride in providing a learning experience that is based on real world applications and applied learning.  As part of the expanded partnership activities in this MOU, QAPCO plant visitations and internships will add immensely to our quest to provide experiential learning opportunities for students, as well as other learning opportunities that have the potential of developing the next generation of leaders for the State of Qatar.”  “We appreciate QAPCO’s continued support to the College – in addition to providing opportunities for students, they have also contributed their input and expertise to the development of our programs, ensuring that we remain current and relevant to their sector.”

Mr. Abdulla Ahmed Naji, QAPCO’s Learning & Development Manager described the MoU as playing a vital role in Industrial and Academic relations in Qatar stating “I am excited about this MoU, especially the chance to deliver the new QAPCO Leadership Program that includes interactive training in the areas of Leadership principles, team work, diplomacy and empowerment. We will also offer a Self-Leadership workshop for up to 100 female students that will provide an excellent way for the attendees to gain an understanding of contemporary issues within this field. I hope that the students who attend these excellent programs will benefit from them and develop themselves to maximize their full potential.”
