Qatar and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) signed a memorandum of cooperation on the sidelines of the commission's 29th ministerial session, which concluded in Doha on Thursday in Doha.
The session was held under the theme of implementing the 2030 sustainable development plan in Arab countries. Ambassador Tariq bin Ali al Ansari, director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of International Cooperation, signed on behalf of Qatar, while ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Abdallah al Dardari represented the commission. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad al Muraikhi and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf were present during the signing ceremony.
The memorandum aims to achieve mutual benefit between the two sides in the fields of support, cooperation, technical consultations and the exchange of expertise in economic and social areas as well as sustainable development and other goals related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in a reflection of Qatar's efforts as the current president of ESCWA for the next two years.
