Abdullah Bin Saud Al-Thani: “the conference is an important opportunity for dialogue with regulators and legislatives on the major issues in the banking sector.”

Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabor Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will host the 10th GCC Banking Conference in Doha on March 23rd and 24th 2011 at The Ritz Carlton Hotel.

The conference will be held under the title ‘GCC Banking and its role in development in light of current updates - reality and ambition’.

“The conference will provide delegates with an important chance for dialogue and discussions with regulators and legislatives about the most influential issues and cases in the regional markets,” said QCB Governor HE Sheikh Abdullah Saud Al-Thani

The Conference discusses many of the important issues including the set up of banking regulations and legislation in GCC countries and seeks to enhance a new period of regional banking practices.

Among the other goals of the conference are providing delegates with a strong base to identify challenges that are affecting the regional financial markets and growth opportunities, and discuss banking trends within the global economy.

The list of speakers also includes well known experts from international institutions, regulatory agencies, academic institutions, banking and financial organizations. The attendees list includes governors of Gulf central banks, monetary institutions and VIP bankers along with representatives of huge financial institutions in the world.

The 10th GCC Banking Conference is held in cooperation with Qatar Expo Event Management. It is the latest of a series of conferences beginning in 1985 and is held every two years in one of the six GCC countries.
