In implementation of the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the fifth shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which has been allocated to the Arab Republic of Egypt on the tenth of June, left this evening the port of Ras Laffan.

The grant ordered by HH the Emir will contribute to alleviating the energy crisis in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, through the provision of additional supplies of fuel for power plants, which face a shortage of gas during the summer period due to the increasing energy consumption, an official source at the Foreign Ministry said.

The shipment of 64,000 tons LNG will be delivered to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the source added.
