Qatar Foundation (QF) will mark the academic achievements of the Class of 2018 at its 11th annual Convocation ceremony in Education City's Ceremonial Court on Tuesday, May 1. The ceremony will honor graduates from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and QF’s eight partner universities in Education City, showcasing student achievements, success stories, and future aspirations.

Mayan Zebeib, Chief Communications Officer, QF, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the individual achievements of all our graduates. During the past number of years, these young men and women have worked diligently across a range of diverse programs to achieve their degrees. We look forward to welcoming them, and their family and friends, to the 2018 Convocation ceremony. “At Qatar Foundation, we strive to provide our students with a range of unique learning opportunities designed to enhance their academic, professional, and personal skills, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to face the challenges of tomorrow as global citizens.”

As part of the QF Convocation tradition, graduates will walk through the ‘Door to the Future’, on the night of the ceremony. Throughout the years, the Door to the Future has witnessed the passage of thousands of QF graduates who now hold notable positions in a variety of sectors, and play crucial roles in organizations in Qatar and across the region. This year’s ceremony will be held under the theme ‘Then and Now’, highlighting the growth experienced by the graduating students during their time at Education City. Additionally, the winner of the inaugural Akhlaquna Award will be announced during this year’s ceremony. The award is designed to recognize and celebrate young people who display exemplary moral character toward the good of humanity and was announced by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, during last year’s Convocation.

Since 2008, QF has collectively celebrated the graduation of students from its partner universities and HBKU. This year’s Convocation will honor graduates from HBKU, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, UCL Qatar, and HEC Paris in Qatar.
