Mr. Khaleel Al Jabir, the President of the Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) has said "Qatar Swimming Association since its establishment has dedicated all its efforts in promoting the exciting sports of Aquatics within the State of Qatar and the organisation of this unique Swimming competition is a great opportunity for supporting our initial goals."

Khaleel Al Jabir said in an open session press conference held on Wednesday at the premises of the Qatar Olympic Committee , ' The Qatar Swimming Association is honored and proud to be selected by FINA to host this world class event in October 06-07, 2012 at Hamad Aquatic Center''.

In close collaboration with FINA and with the support of Qatar Olympic Committee, the Organising Committee have already began its preparations for this exciting competition", he added.

The press conference was attended by the Federation swimmers that will participate in the London 2012 Olympic Games, Nada Arakji and Ahmed Ghithe G Atari, in addition to Federation Board Members Mr Issa Zara and Ahmed Al Mana.

The press conference organised by the QSA, came following the nomination by Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA, the International Federation), announced the hosting of two editions (2012 & 2013) of the FINA Swimming World Cup (25m).

The FINA World Swimming Cup (25m) is considered one of the most prestigious swimming competitions in the world and positioning Doha amongst the elite event organizers of this spectacular event. FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation) is the governing body of all the aquatic sports – swimming, water polo, diving, synchronised swimming, and open water swimming – recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

FINA is one of the three largest international federations within the International Olympic Committee and the only federation to govern five Olympic Sports. FINA has 203 federation affiliate members and four IOC members.
