Qatar has ranked five places higher on INSEAD and World Economic Forum’s Annual Global Information Technology Report, which indicates the country’s high thrust on IT for economic diversification, enhanced efficiency and modernisation.

Qatar has moved to 25th rank overall, with improvements in most areas and in particular with government readiness (second), and usage (34th, up six places). The country is also ranked second in the entire Mena region, only behind the UAE, in IT development.

Qatar’s government has “consistenly prioritised” information and communication technology’s (ICT) diffusion and usage in recent years, which has prompted an intense ICT uptake from people.
